Sheffield designer maker Duncan Edward’s vision of ‘wrought-iron’ style gates for the museum’s Stone Garden can now be seen during museum event open days.
Hand forged at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, various metals were used to inspire it’s design which reflects the industrial skyline of Sheffield against the natural habitat of the River Don, detailing chimneys and roofs amidst the herons, kingfishers and reeds now returning to the River Don.
The project was commissioned by the River Don Millowners Association who also funded the restoration of the adjacent Crucible Works.
