Artist’s Residencies: Orchard Square

Sheffield artists are taking over Orchard Square Shopping Centre from this month right through to November.
Four different artists working with four very different art forms will be based in the craft units on the upper level of Orchard Square.
You are invited to come, see, hear and work with the artists; the opportunities are starting this month with Zoyander Street and the Computer Petting Zoo. The Zoo is open Tues-Sun afternoons, so drop in to meet the virtual pets; make your own at a free Game Jam on 19 August, or come along for an informal get-together to share ideas about computers, art, games and play on August 26th.
September will see Lynne Chapman sketching life in the Shopping Centre and creating magical textile pieces from these drawings, she’ll also be offering urban sketching workshops to people who want to join in. Michael Borkowsky’s Perfume as Practice sees him create of new perfumes for shoppers, artists and anyone else that cares to participate in his in drop-in sessions; ever fancied buying art? Then Richard Bolam’s “Rick’s Fast Art Takeaway “ is the place to come to in Orchard Square in November – selling pre-packaged and made to order, while-u-wait art.
Orchard Square Arts Residencies form part of Making Ways, a new programme supported by Sheffield Culture Consortium through Arts Council England to showcase, celebrate and develop the exceptional contemporary visual art produced in the city.
