Michael Borkowsky – Fine Art Perfumer at Orchard Square

Making Ways

Dates: October 4- 25
Craft Unit 14, Upper Deck – next to Waterstones, Orchard Square Shopping Centre, Sheffield, S1 2FB
Opening Times: Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 12-4pm and Sunday 12- 2pm
Orchard Square Shopping Centre will host Michael Borkowsky, fine art perfumer, as Artist in Residence in its Craft Unit’s on the Upper Deck of the Shopping Centre, between Waterstones and Starbucks.
Michael’s work explores how art would exist if scent were our primary means of communication. His residency in Orchard Square will utilise perfume as a tool for alternative portraits.
He will create and exhibit perfumes in situ, exhibiting portraits of Sheffield artists, achieved through an established process that begins by asking the question ‘why do you make art?’ then choosing fragrance notes and visual designs relevant to the response received.
Alongside this he will also host perfume making workshops, giving participants the opportunity to learn about his approach to perfumery and the perfume making process and allow audiences to make a perfume of their own.
Artists will be invited to take advantage of a perfume portrait consultancy service, whilst everyone can discover the art of perfume or participate in a perfume making workshop.
You can find out more on Michael’s blog.
