Salon ’19, Artists Talk: Matthew Raw
The Holt, 156 Arundel Street, Sheffield, S1 4RE
5 Feb / 6.30-8pm / Free / Book here
The first event in Bloc Project’s Salon series for 2019 brings Mathew Raw to Sheffield. Frequently using tiles and letterforms to tell the stories of people and places, Matthew is a ceramics artist who seeks to push the possibilities of clay to communicate and to challenge public perceptions of what it can do as a material.  He won the Jerwood Prize in 2014 and in 2017 worked with architecture collective Assemble for ‘Clay Station’ an ambitious Art on the Underground project at Seven Sisters Tube Station, involving the production of more than a thousand hand-made tiles.

Lux Feininger’s iconic photographs of Karla Grosch’s gymnastics classes on the Bauhaus Dessau roof.  More here.
