Making Our Way – New Visual Art Panel

Making Ways

Following the publication of Making Our Way – an ambition for Visual Arts in Sheffield 2019-2024, launched in July 2019, we are setting up a Visual Art Panel to help monitor and implement this vision.

Making Our Way was developed under the guidance of the Making Ways Steering Group, the governance body for Making Ways, an Ambition for Excellence project awarded to Sheffield Culture Consortium.

OPPORTUNITY: Visual Art Panel
Deadline: 28 January
Sheffield Culture Consortium are inviting applications from Sheffield based artists for a new Visual Arts Panel.

We are seeking two artists to be on this panel – and are looking to represent a breadth of practice, to include one craftsperson/maker and one contemporary fine artist. Other members of the Panel are currently being recruited and will represent the visual art sector in the city – arts organisations, galleries, studios, the universities, festivals and/or venues, for example. In the first instance, it is proposed that the panel will meet four times a year.

We are looking for Sheffield-based, mid-career artists who are committed to attending all meetings. You should be well-networked and confident in communicating your ideas and reflect on the visual arts in the city. This is a paid position and a great opportunity for visual artists to have their voice heard.

For Panel Meetings, artists will be paid £100 for a half-day session, on a freelance basis. In addition to this there will be occasional networking meetings to feedback to other artists in the city. A fee of £50 will be offered to attend these.

You can find further information on Making Our Way and plans for the panel here.
