September 2 – 29
Orchard Square Shopping Centre, Craft Units Upper Level, Sheffield S1 2FB
September will see Lynne Chapman sketching life in the Shopping Centre and creating magical textile pieces from these drawings,. You will see her out and about sketching in the square, or you can drop-in to find out what she is working on.
She’ll also be offering urban sketching workshops to people who want to join in.
Workshop 1: Urban Sketching for Beginners (2 hours)
September 16th 10.30am / Meet outside Waterstones, upstairs
Adults £10; children £5 (£8 / £3 concessions)
Suitable for total beginners, adults with children, or those who draw but are unused to sketching outdoors. You’ll need: a sketchbook (any size is fine, but A5 is always a good size), a pencil and ideally a small selection of coloured pencils.
Workshop 2: Rhythm & Blues: the Relationship Between Colour and Line (3 hours)
September 16th 1.30pm / Meet outside Waterstones, upstairs
(Suitable for adults) £26 (£20 concessions)
As children, we are taught to paint within the lines, but being more playful with the way line and colour work together can make your work more expressive. We’ll be breaking the rules and learning techniques to make your sketches sing and dance!
To book workshops: email@example.com – Numbers are limited.
This programme is funded by LAP (London & Associated Properties) and Making Ways, a new programme supported by Sheffield Culture Consortium through Arts Council England to showcase, celebrate and develop the exceptional contemporary visual art produced in the city.
